Red Star Shipping Nautical Ship Management is following its Safety Management and Environmental Protection System which ensures safe shipping operations, to protect crew from injury or loss of life and to avoid damage to the marine environment and property.
These objectives are pursued by RSS in order to ensure safe shipping operations:
The Safety Management System and the Environmental Protection System are subject to permanent development and improvement in all parts.
The documented safety and environmental procedures are introduced for their steady improvement.

Red Star Shipping Nautical Ship Management takes care that a safe working environment and safeguards against all known risks to secure safe working practices is provided. Training of all shipboard and shore based personnel for emergencies in respect to safety at sea and marine environmental protection are paramount praxis.
RSS Management Manuals are related to safety and environmental protection taking into consideration national/international regulations, performing procedures and instructions as e.g. but not limited to:

  • Shipboard Oil Pollution
  • Emergency Plan (SOPEP), drills, shore based unit training
  • Garbage Management Plan-
  • Ballast Water Management Plan
  • Ship Security Plan (according ISPS)
  • General rules and documented procedures
  • Nautical publications such as sea charts, nautical almanac, pilot books, lists of lights and safety and environmental protection-related international rules and regulations.
  • Up to date informations i.e. Notice to Mariners

Supervision of forthcoming national and international regulations
The RSS shore organisation is monitoring National and international regulations.
New regulations will be implemented as soon as possible in the RSS SM- System to achieve the utmost benefit for the environment, the safety of the ships and our customers.

Guidelines for operation

RSS is following clear safety and environmental guidelines producing easy to follow instructions for the operation of the vessels, in particular regarding fuel consumption to save fuel and avoid CO2 emission.
These guidelines are part of the SMS System for efficient fuel consumption.

Control of Technical Aspects

RSS vessels are integrated in a permanent process of technical and environmental protection evolution. These experiences taking into consideration the latest technical developments and regulations will lead to a most efficient way of operations.

Training measures are offered to our crew and employees, in order to improve their knowledge and skills permanently.

Designated Person

The RSS - Designated Person establishes frameworks and guidelines for the whole SMS
For the system to function effectively the Management provides the Designated Person with all the support he needs.

Budget planning

The budget is planned on an annual basis, to guarantee availability of resources. To ensure safe ship operations and protecting the environment, adequate material and human resources and shore-based support are provided by RSS Ship Management at all times. For this purpose adequate financial resources and materials are calculated and implemented into the budget.
